VN-Ireland anti-double tax pact approved
VGP- The Vietnamese PM just approved the Agreement on the Prevention of Double Taxation and Income Tax Evasion between the Vietnamese and Irish Governments.
PM okays to negotiate for ADB loans
VGP – The Government chief on October 31 accepted the plan to negotiate with the Asia Development Bank (ADB) for the Borrowing Agreement and other related documents for the Project "Comprehensive socio-economic development of Thanh Hóa City".
More chances for foreign investors to buy SOEs
VGP - Early this month, the Government issued Decree 109/2008 NĐ-CP on the sale and transfer of wholly State-owned enterprises (SOEs). The Decree opens more opportunities for foreign businesses to involve in the trading of enterprises in Việt Nam.
FAO gives rice seeds to three northern provinces
VGP – The PM approved on October 21 the project "Urgent donation of rice seeds to victims of Hurricane Kammuri in Việt Nam’s province of Phú Thọ, Yên Bái and Lào Cai" granted with a non-refundable aid of US $400,000 by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization.
Draft agreements with Brazil and Uzbekistan approved
VGP – PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng approved on October 20 the draft agreement between the governments of the Socialist Republic of Việt Nam and the Federal Republic of Brazil on visa exemption for business passport holders.

VGP – The PM just delivered his opinions that competent agencies should fine Vedan Việt Nam Joint-stock Company Ltd. for its breach of environment laws, closely supervise the execution of penalty, and make report to the PM.

VGP – To preserve and protect the environment of Phú Quốc Island to promote sustainable socio-economic development, converting the island into a modern center of tourist and international commercial activities in the Mekong Delta and in the world.
PM give instructions to health care and power projects
VGP – The PM gave nod on October 8 to the Ministry of Health to take over the three-year Project "Supervising Dengue in Mỹ Tho City, Tiền Giang Province" financed by the University of Hawaii (US).
VN determines to renew foreign languages training and learning
VGP – The overall target of Plan “Foreign languages Teaching and Learning for Vietnamese Citizenship 2008-2020”, recently ratified by PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng, is that by the year 2020, the majority of Vietnamese youths, especially those graduating from tertiary educational establishments, can use foreign languages (FL) fluently so as to serve the country’s cause of industrialization and modernization.
PM approves plan on coastal economic zones
VGP – According to the Planning Scheme for the development of coastal economic zones (CEZs) to 2020 just ratified by the PM, key economic zones will be founded in order to boost up the development of poor coastal areas.
